John at Hummings

Backing local businesses is a top priority for John Cope.

John invited Cabinet Minister, John Glen MP, to meet with the fab Ramon at Hummings and Cllr Alistair Mann (recent Chair of the Cobham Chamber of Commerce), to discuss Esher High Street and the support small businesses need.

The conversation started with a reflection on the thousands of jobs furlough and business loans saved in the pandemic, as well the support businesses got during the global energy crisis. We then covered the need to slash red tape that can creep in, the barriers to investment, as well as seemingly small things like fixing the pavements and getting more plants on Esher high street can make a huge difference. Finally, how brilliant the Esher Chamber of Commerce has been in bringing local businesses together.

Thank you to Ramon for hosting us. And if you're a local business and want to meet, let John know on [email protected].
