Local Conservative Tim Oliver is standing for re-election in the Esher by-election on Thursday. He has written the below message to all Esher residents.
"Dear Elector,
As we enter the last week of the election campaign I would like to thank you for the support that you have given me on the doorstep. It is quite clear from the conversations that I have had with a large number of you that you believe passionately in the quality of life that we all enjoy in Esher and you want to see that maintained. You are rightly worried about protecting the Green Belt and Government intervention as well as ensuring that Elmbridge continues to deliver good quality services.
It is disappointing that the Esher Residents Association (ERA) have made increasingly extravagant claims in their literature around what they have achieved. The reality is that the Conservative Group have been running Elmbridge now for many years. The Elmbridge Residents Group, which is a political party of which the ERA is a member, lost control at a time when Council Tax was rising steeply and frontline services were not improving. This is the fifth time that I have asked the residents of Esher to elect me and there has been a different ERA candidate against me each time. What I provide is continuity and hard work through the year and over the years and not just visibility at election time.
Tim Oliver"
