The new Elmbridge Community Hub was officially opened by the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Mike Bennison, and his wife Mary on Monday 20 May. It is located in the former library building at the end of Walton High Street and is now called the Old School House, reflecting the building's original use.
The Hub houses the Walton, Weybridge & Hersham Citizens' Advice Bureau, who have moved there from the Elmgrove site. The following also have desks at the Hub; Surrey Police, Surrey Independent Living Council, the Counselling Partnership and Elmbridge Borough Council. The renovating work was undertaken by Conservative-run Elmbridge Council and have ensured that this historic building will play a key part in Walton's future.
Walton Conservative Councillors Rachael Lake, Barbara Cowin, Andrew Kelly, Christine Elmer and Chris Elmer (in photo above right) attended the opening. Andrew, also a Trustee of the local CAB, said "I was delighted to attend the opening last week. The Council has done great work renovating the building, the beams and exposed bricks in particular look great, as does the eye-catching front entrance. I am so pleased that our wonderful CAB has the excellent home it deserves."
