The Conservatives increased their majority at Elmbridge Borough Council in the local elections held on 7th May.

We now hold 33 of the 60 seats, having gained Molesey East and St George’s  Hill from the Residents' Associations Group, but lost Claygate to the Liberal Democrats.

The new Council will serve until May 2016 when all members will up for election as a result of the reduction in the number of Councillors to 48 (a Conservative initiative) and revised wards.

Cllr John O’Reilly, Leader of the Council commented: "We are immensely grateful to Elmbridge residents for their renewed confidence as we begin the tenth year of Conservative administration. We will remain a moderate, mainstream and inclusive team, rigorously focused on delivering low council tax, high quality services, backing our voluntary sector and protecting our unique green environment."

He added, “I am delighted with the victories of Dr Peter Szanto in East Molesey and Manwinder Toor in St George’s Hill whose talent, commitment and enthusiasm will make them outstanding Councillors serving their communities. And I hope that Geoff Herbert, who lost narrowly in Claygate but was elected with conspicuous support to the Parish Council, will re-join us again next year."
