Dominic Raab MP

In a first for Esher and Walton Conservative Association, our local MP and Foreign Secretary, Dominic Raab took questions from voters, live on Facebook.

The event on Friday 26 June was a huge success, attracting more than 1,000 comments and questions, and close to 30,000 views of the video by 1 July. The event was compered by Surrey Heath councillor Paul Deach, with Dom taking questions via a video link to his home in Thames Ditton.

A wide range of national topics were covered, such as making a green recovery from Covid-19, when healthcare and other sectors could expect to reopen, and what the impact of a trade deal with the United States could look like. On local matters, Dom commented on everything from planning and protecting the green belt, to aircraft noise and ‘slum boats’ blighting our riverside.

He said: “It’s been difficult engaging with residents throughout this period of Covid-19, so I really appreciated this opportunity. We had some great questions.”

You can watch a recording of the Q&A here.
