Thank you to Education Secretary, Gillian Keegan, for coming to our area to see the progress being made and discussing with John Cope our plan to improve local school standards and opportunity further. This includes more apprenticeships, zero tolerance on bad behaviour, and increased pay for teachers, especially in key shortage subjects.
Since 2010:
- 93% of schools across the constituency are now rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. This compares to only 69% of schools under Labour.
- Over 5,000 new high-quality apprenticeships have been taken by local people to give them the skills they need.
- State of the art Three Rivers Academy has been built in Hersham, along with two new fantastic free schools serving local families - Cobham Free School and Heathside Walton.

I’ve spent most of my career working in education and apprenticeships, so ensuring our children have access to the very best education is a top priority. As the next MP for Esher and Walton, I will keep this progress going and campaign hard for improved access to apprenticeships and investment in our schools so that everyone, regardless of their background, can get the opportunity they deserve.
